Maverick Hood

So I got the skin off the Grabber hood. It is going to take some work to reshape it . It will then be grafted onto a Mustang hood.

So the hardtop is off. I removed it in one piece. A lot of prep work and the fastback goes on.  My shop is shrinking and a bit messy I have my 66 Ford truck, 30 roadster, 30Tudor, Cafe racer and the Mustang in the shop right now.

Tire and Wheel Fitment

The rear is fitted with a 29.5 tall tire  on a Anson 15×8 wheel with a 4.5 offset.

The rear of the wheel well will need to radiused or a 28.5 tire used.

The front tires are going to have to be 27 tall the ones fitted are 28.5 and they touch the front of wheel opening on fender. The wheels are 15×6 3 inch offset.

Roof Panel

So I sanded down the fastback roof. Someone had used a large grinder with a very course disc to remove paint years ago. This resulted in deep gouges and metal warpage. There was more than a full on of plastic filler used to fix the mistake.

I will repair the warped areas so we should only need filler primer and maybe a thin skim coat.

Installing the Hiedts Four Link Rear

So I have a kit with a Ford 9 inch rear end and 4 Link setup from Hiedts. I installed the cross member that attaches the upper shock mounts with not one problem. Hiedts has a bracket that bolts into the front leaf spring bracket. Did it not only not fit but it required being cut in half and rewelded.
I was more than a little surprised that they had missed the mark on this bracket.

Once I got those in place the rest of the assembly was easy.
I installed the the SSBC disc brakes to finish up the rear drive train.
